Apr 21st, 2017 | By | Category: Events

Gubbio, in the province of Perugia, Umbria have presented for 35 years, on the slopes of Monte Ingino, to “build” a Christmas tree in honor of the patron saint of San Ubaldo.

The Christmas tree is taller than 650 meters, with more than 250 bright green spots, 300 multicoloured lights and on top a star. The total surface covers 1000 m2 and has a further 200 luminitories. Such a realization could not go unnoticed, and in fact, Albero di Gubbio entered the Book of Guinness Book of Records as “The World’s Largest Christmas Tree” in 1991.

The world’s largest Christmas tree is lit every year on the eve of the Immaculate Conception, on December 7th. It remains lit and visible throughout the holiday season, until the Epiphany day, on January 6, or just over.
