Are you looking to visit a  prestigious vineyard in Umbria and spend some time tasting the incredible wines from its estate and possibly even rent a wonderful country house on the winery estate?   Then Cantina Sobrano in Todi can offer all this.  Set amongst green rolling hills, the estate covers 30 hectares, just a 5 minute drive from beautiful medieval Todi. The imposing 13th century Castello, an important fortification at the time and the road alongside the estate was the major road that led to Rome from Florence over many centurie, is where Cantina Sobrano is located.    The 50 metre “bottaia” holds the ancient oak barrels for storing and ageing the wine.  Below the gallery are the cellars where guests and wine-tasting excursions taste the fantastic wine produced on the Villa Sobrano Estate.  Wine has been produced at the Castello for almost 100 years., namely “Bartolomeo” and “Donna Sabina”  and is available for sale.

VINTAGE WINES
BARTOLOMEO Vintage 2003
Is a rich ruby San Giovese and Merlot, blended in equal proportions.  It has a bold aroma of wild fruit that follows with a bouquet of green fruit.  A very energetic and noble wine that shows the power and consistency to excel with a clean and well round disposition.  On the palete, the wine makes a peremptory fragrant statement, with a gentle feel followed by a hint of rustic oakiness.  The concentrated tannic extracts are unexcelled, that is to say, absolutely superior.  A wine that is warm and dry not fleshy or chewy with a soft finish that is clean and persistent  Bartolomeo fascinates with its ending played on “fruity” and “grassy” tones.

DONNA SABINA Vintage 2006
Produced exclusively from first press of the young Grechetto grape.  A wine aged entirely in wooden oak barrels from fermentation to maturation, using twice weekly “batonage” or gentle stirring, until bottled in its entirety during the month of April. Donna Sabina is a buttery wine with a fresh bouquet, yet at the same time, a mature sense; the tannic finish is typical  of the Grachetto grape.  Donna Sabina shows the evolutive potentials of this excellent wine and its great character.

  1. Dear Sir,

this year, Easter Sunday, we bought one box of the Donna Sabina, White Wine, 2007. It tastes marvellous!!!!
How much is it to send a box to Germany? Or is there a wine shop in Munich, which sells this wine?

    Best regards from Bavaria

    Ariane Rastel
