Rome: Electric chariot Angels to assist Tourists

Sep 17th, 2009 | By | Category: Italian News

Rome is recruiting a fleet of “tourist angels” to help the millions of tourist going through the Eternal City every year. The city’s tourism chief Mauro Cutrufo announced that a 60-strong team of angels on electric chariots is being formed.

They will speed to visitors’ rescue when they look in trouble or simply at a loss where to turn next, said Cutrufo, who is also Rome’s deputy mayor.

The team of red-jerseyed charioteers will begin work in November.

”This way tourists won’t have to go to information offices. They’ll be reached wherever they are, whatever they’re interested in,” Cutrufo told reporters.
